Following the conclusion of this year’s “Two Sessions,” the management of industrial wastewater has emerged as one of the hottest environmental topics. Industrial wastewater treatment, a crucial sector of China’s environmental industry, also plays a vital role in achieving carbon neutrality. According to the national economic plans from the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” to the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan,” the support policies for the industrial wastewater sector have evolved from “accelerating the construction of urban sewage treatment facilities” to “expediting the construction and renovation of urban sewage treatment facilities and pipelines,” and finally to “promoting full coverage of urban sewage networks and carrying out precision upgrades in sewage treatment.”
As a premier forum during the Shanghai International Water Exhibition, the International Water Leaders Forum (IWLF) continuously explores the current hot topics in the field of industrial water treatment. On June 3, 2024, Horae Group will co-host the IWLF with Global Water Intelligence (GWI), founding partner Ecolab Group, and strategic partners CITIC Group, DuPont, SUEZ, and Hydranautics USA. This edition of the IWLF will focus on “High-Quality Development in Industrial Water Treatment,” bringing together policymakers, representatives from water-intensive industries such as steel, power generation, petrochemicals, and coal chemicals, as well as providers of water-saving and wastewater treatment solutions. Discussions will center on how to meet carbon neutrality goals in water treatment; how digitalization, artificial intelligence, and smart technologies can support sustainable development in the sector; and other pressing issues such as secondary pollutants from water treatment, sludge recovery and reuse, and the disposal of industrial waste salts.
